At twenty-seven, Detective Reiko Himekawa of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police is unusually young to be a squad leader in the Homicide Division, but despite barriers created by age, gender, and lack of connections, she is oblivious to danger, mentally tough, and has an impressive ability to solve crimes. When a gruesomely slaughtered body wrapped in plastic is discovered, Himekawa’s team is assigned the case. As she begins her investigation, Reiko soon uncovers eleven other murders with a similar ‘signature’ and a reference to something called ‘strawberry night,’ a group that recruits victims and murderers on the internet. To solve this twisted serial killing and find the killer behind the gruesome murders, she must reach back into her own troubled past.  To survive, she has to escape the group which has marked her as their next victim.
