The 2018 edition of this yearbook is divided into nine sections: cardiology; chest and critical care; diabetes and metabolic disorders; gastroenterology/hepatology; infectious diseases, HIV and TB; miscellaneous (geriatrics, genetics, and pregnancy related); nephrology and hypertension; neurology; and rheumatology and immunology.

Each section contains 20 selected journal articles that provide updates on new developments and the direction in which different subspecialties are moving to improve patient care.

• Simplified commentary on the articles has been included for the benefit of postgraduate students and practicing physicians.
• Each article concludes with a key message.
• A list of references for further reading has been provided at the end of some of the sections.
