Kafka's Trial shows us the conflict between the individual and the system of justice. The novel starts when Josef K. gets arrested. Two guards do not explain to him what he had done wrong. Even though he was pressed charges, he is free to continue his daily life, for example, he can still go to work, meet friends, see family members. `You've misunderstood me; you're under arrest, certainly, but that's not meant to keep you from carrying on your profession. ` Starting from this point we can see a paradox: Josef K. is arrested, but it doesn`t really have any impact on his life. In `The Trial` Kafka makes fun of the juridical system and bureaucracy. It is depicted as corrupt and unfair. In the court we can see lewd judges, that have pornographic novels instead of law books. Another example is that the courtroom is located in the attic or in the studio. It seems that legal systems don`t do anything, only penetrate justice. They are absurd and illogical. `The Trial` is an upside-down world, where people get arrested without reason and they have no chance of pleading innocent . Kafka tries to inform us of the law system and warn of possible dangers before it is too late.
