Love and family obligations are the base line in the plot of the novel The Mill on the Floss by a famous English writer George Eliot. Its characters are all interesting in their own way; everyone is with their individual and unique temper. The society of a small trading town in the first half of the nineteenth century is shown to readers in its whole beauty, with its advantages and drawbacks. The ending is rather unpredictable. However, by the look of it that’s how it’s meant to be.
