The objective of this document is to assist stakeholders, primarily policymakers, who wish to develop bioenergy options that safeguard food security. The guidance in this document is based on FAO’s Bioenergy and Food Security Approach (BEFS ). The document provides a succinct description of the various components, tools and guidance of the BEFS Approach, illustrating how they can be used to inform and support sustainable bioenergy assessment and planning.
