The search for the right architectural form could scarcely be presented more convincingly and clearly than it is in The Making of Haus Ideal. The design process is illuminated using examples of preliminary and working models, which change and develop constantly through subtle shifts in requirements. This performative form-finding process continuously generates interrelated, alternative solutions in eight progressive sequences, from the preliminary model to the final form. It provides interesting insights into the continual refinement of the design, as well as the sometimes sculptural and sometimes narrative originality of the objects that emerge in the early stage of the process. It comes as no surprise that the last, final form is ultimately not always ideal. However, in Haus Ideal all the original possibilities are shown.

Überzeugender und anschaulicher als in The Making of Haus Ideal kann man die Suche nach der richtigen Form in der Architektur wohl kaum darstellen. Der Prozess des Entwerfens wird am Beispiel von Erst- und Arbeitsmodellen gezeigt, die sich durch stetige Aufgabenwiederholung und subtile Anforderungsverschiebungen immer wieder verändern und entwickeln. Dieser performative Formfindungsprozess generiert in acht aufeinander aufbauenden Sequenzen vom Erstlingsmodell bis zur endgültigen Form kontinuierlich miteinander verwandte alternative Lösungen. Dabei beeindruckt die fortwährende Verfeinerung eines Entwurfs ebenso wie die manchmal skulpturale, manchmal erzählerische Originalität der Objekte, die in der Frühphase des Prozesses entstehen. Es ist dabei keine Überraschung, dass die letzte, endgültige Form am Ende nicht immer die ideale ist. Aber in „Haus Ideal“ bleiben alle ursprünglichen Möglichkeiten erhalten.
