Опис книги

You can't read, can't write, but you heal fast, even for a witch. You get sick if you stay indoors after dark. You hate White Witches but love Annalise, who is one.

Meet Nathan Byrn...
He's half White Witch, half Black Witch.
His mother was a healer, his father is a killer.
He's been kept in a cage since he was fourteen.
But if White Witches are good and Black Witches are evil, what happens if you are both?

'A book about witches with no owls and not a pair of round spectacles in sight. The new Hunger Games, I suspect... Brilliant and utterly compelling - I loved it.'
Kate Atkinson, author of Life after Lifeand Behind the Scenes of the Museum

'Teens rejoice: the inheritor to Stephenie Meyer's crown has arrived.'
Fiona Wilson, The Times

'Edgy, arresting and brilliantly written, Half Bad grips you from the first page and doesn't let go.'
Michael Grant, author of Gone

'A brilliant debut that is both deeply unique and unsettling, one that chilled me to the bone and broke my heart even as I sped through its pages. This will haunt you.'
Marie Lu, author of Legend

'Take our word for it, this book is going to be huge.'
Stylist

'Brilliantly paced with more than a few nasty surprises, Half Bad is a wickedly addictive read that will capture the imagination of any fan of YA fiction.'
Starburst

'Not since the Harry Potter books - yes, I said it! - have I felt so fully immersed in an author's creation... I couldn't be more stoked over Half Bad, and this launch novel of a trilogy truly deserves all the hype surrounding it - and much more...'
Amanda Hurley, Inkwood Books

Let adventures begin
I consider the first volume is the most interesting one. I like its cover a lot. Have no idea why it composed that way, but I like it. Sally starts Half Bad by getting us acquainted with the main character - Nathan. He tells us the whole story ('cos the trilogy written in a first-person manner). From the very first pages, we see captured Nathan. He is locked in a cage. The cage placed outdoor, and he spends every night there. He destined to suffer a lot of tortures. And this one was not one of them. The thing is black witches can not stand staying indoors at night. And Nathan is a half-black and half-wight witch (so-called half code). There is some kind of war between white and black witches. And Nathen was misfortunate enough to be born in a white witches family. His father is a strong black witch who has killed a lot of white witches. That's why white witches' authority is going to use Nathan against his father. But Nathan needs his father. He doesn't believe in gossips, tends to think his father was not a that bad person. Besides, each witch needs to get three gifts from his\her bloodline ancestors when he\she reaches a certain age. And those who won't get those gifts won't survive. The first volume of the trilogy tells us about Nathan's family, about his attempts to survive and reunite with his father. But finding his father won't be an easy task. Neither an easy task is getting rid of white authorities and break free. I enjoyed each volume. The world is so realistic and profoundly planned, you deepen in it with unbelievable speed. It contains ordinary humans with no supernatural abilities, white witches, black witches. And it's the only thing Harry Potter has in common with this trilogy. Have no idea why Sally Green's work compared to Stephenie Morgan Meyer's Twilight. This trilogy is so much better! It's not a masterpiece. Nathan's story is exciting, also much more interesting than many other young-adult literature representatives.
