I was fascinated by Jodi Picoult's " Mercy", so when i saw this book on the shelve I knew I'm buying it. Jacob is a kid with Asperger's, he is enourmously smart, he has lots of things that piss him off such as orange colour, he needs to know beforehand about some changes on his routine, he is doing everything exactly according to schedule; he is waking up early on Saturady and Sunday despite the fact that there is no school and he could have slept longer; he is obsessed with Crime Busters and watches it at 4:30. That means no matter what at 4:30 he should watch crime busters or he might have meltdown. He do not maintaon eye contact with people because it is intruding into their personal space and into his, which gives him pain. He has voice with no ups and downs, which may sound okay when he is reading a story but not when he is talking. He understands literally what people say, which involves lots of funny events in book but not so in real life. His mother has devoted her life to taking care of him. She needs to buy lots of medicine which insurance does not cover, she is paying different psychologist, doctors, specialists. She writes advice column in magazines. She makes food for Jacob everyday of different colour of a rainbow. His closet is also in such colour classification. I find both food and clothes classifiaction accroding to colour both cool and very hard, for someone it might be strange. There is also Theo, who has always been younger brother of kid with Asperger's. Even despite the fact that Jacob is the one with syndrome it affects mostly people around him, he is like a red t-shirt in the washing mashine with white t-shirts. All white t-shirts will change their colour even if it was only one red. There is also Oliver, who is funny and cute lawyer, I enjoyed some funny (for me) situations in the court. My favourite is "You cannot object your own witness!!" Jodi Picoult always has some dilemma in her book, which I especially like because it makes me wonder and think on different social issues. There is a tv-show which reminds me of the plot of this book, called "Atypical". It's a bit different but nonethless very interesting and shows a similar picture as the book.
