Vintage Feminism: classic feminist texts in short form

With an introduction by Natalie Haynes

When this book was first published in 1949 it was to outrage and scandal. Never before had the case for female liberty been so forcefully and successfully argued. De Beauvoir’s belief that ‘One is not born, but rather becomes, woman’ switched on light bulbs in the heads of a generation of women and began a fight for greater equality and economic independence. These pages contain the key passages of the book that changed perceptions of women forever.

Translated by Constance Borde and Sheila Malovany-Chevallier

Vintage feminism
An extremely interesting and no less relevant study of why women were left behind the scenes of the theater of life for so long. The author's comprehensive approach to the collection and analysis of material, its processing and systematization to facilitate understanding of her author's term "Other" is impressive. The other is a woman. This is how men perceive her. The woman was first put on the throne by fear, and then deposed and spat upon. A woman whose rights still need protection from the outdated patriarchy, who suffers from sexual and domestic violence, misogyny, sexism, gaslighting. This study reveals how it happened that those who should have been our allies, friends, partners, voluntarily chose to be our enemies, making us Others. Simona leads us through the underbelly of history, philosophy, biology, political science and constructively explains to us why socialism will never bring feminism to a happy ending, forces us to review the list of philosophers whom I considered to be intelligent people (after reading I threw out Balzac and did not regret it for a second), will tell why the Christian movement arose and simply tell a lot of interesting things that will be able to captivate the audience during secular conversations.
