This systematic and up-to-date handbook is unique in its scope and will open up a rather rare body of research literature to scholars in any field related to population. The editors have organized the vast amount of information in an easily accessible format, grouping countries and territories by world regions, and including current maps for almost all of them. Unlike previous works on censuses, this handbook provides an expanded historical view of the countries, which will be of great help in understanding census methods, frequency, and coverage.
