Public Speaking: It's Not Scary is an introductory level textbook dedicated to first-time public speakers. It was the authors' intent to create a no-nonsense, basic text for their students. It covers all of the basics needed to prepare college students for their public speaking experiences throughout their academic years.
The text covers the importance of public speaking in a free society, the changes implemented throughout history with public speaking, the ethics associated with a message, topic choices, outline preparation, verbal and non-verbal communication, effective listening, research skills, small group communication, as well as the types of speeches presented in college.
