• Traveling book club(s) in which groups of black women discuss the themes within the book in popular destinations like The Caribbean and Central/South America • Readings at independent bookstores in NYC: Blue Stockings, Greenlight, Café Con Libros. • Readings at Busboys and Poets in Washington, D.C, as well as other community-based institutions that are not formal bookstores. • Readings at a literary venue in Shanghai and a women’s writing group in Hong Kong just before the pub date. • Facebook Live discussions with groups such as Childfree of the African Diaspora, Secular Sisters, African Americans for Humanism, Black Americans Living Abroad (when applicable utilizing the Facebook Live sessions to host offline readings and discussions). • Targeting Essence Magazine, Slate, Vogue, Bitch, Elle, and The Feminist Wire for reviews. • Targeting several BookTube channels whose viewing audience are between 500–1000 people, indie blogs like Singlegirlsrock.com, and mid-list brands like For Harriet, The Not Mom, NonParents, etc., for features/reviews.

Through eight humorous essays, Keturah Kendrick chronicles her journey to freedom. She shares the stories of other women who have freed themselves from the narrow definition of what makes a 'proper woman.' Spotlighting the cultural bullying that dictates women must become mothers to the expectation that one's spiritual path follow the traditions of previous generations, Kendrick imagines a world where black women make life choices that center on their needs and desires. She also examines the rising trend of women choosing to remain single and explores how such a choice is the antithesis to the trope of the sorrowful black woman who cannot find a man to grant her the prize of legal partnership. A mixture of memoir and cultural critique, No Thanks uses wit and insight to paint a picture of the twenty-first-century black woman who has unchained herself from what she is supposed to be. A black woman who has given herself permission to be whomever she wants to be.
