The son of restaurateurs, Timothy Everest MBE wanted to be a racing driver when he was young. His ambition unfulfilled, at 17 he took a job with his uncle, working as a sales assistant at Hepworths in Milford Haven, a high street shop that would form the foundation of the Next retail empire.
