About book

This is an automatically translated description

The monograph is the first comprehensive study of the phenomenon of the woman in ancient philosophical thought in the post-Indian space. The author, aiming to reconstruct the understanding of the woman in ancient Greek and ancient Roman philosophical thought, takes a two-pronged approach. First of all, he examines the antique philosophers in detail, analysing in detail the creative heritage of each of them, providing the original texts of saved works and their fragments, as well as information about them. It is worth mentioning that the book is the first to contain translations of ancient Greek and Latin texts in Ukrainian, which adds novelty to this research in the context of the development of anticognition in Ukraine. On the other hand, the author gives a general characteristic of the understanding of the woman from the early Greek philosophers and philosophers to the end of the Hellenistic era, highlighting the whole range of understanding of her meaning in society.

Once again, for a more complete picture of the «woman's issue» in antiquity and interrelation with philology, mythology and epic literature, the author focuses on the mythological plots and works of Homer and Hesiod.

The book will be useful both for anti-cognitive historians, historians of philosophy, and for cultural historians, historians, classical philologists, researchers in gender issues.
