Idyllic Alara Cove, a California beach town known for its sunny charm, has taught the offspring of its privileged residents at the elite Thornton Academy. Attending on a scholarship, Nikki Graziola is not like her overindulged peers.

Her graduation speech shakes the town to its core when she veers off script and reveals a shocking secret. In light of the revelation, the town must face a reckoning and Nikki is forced into exile.
