The proposed collection of works by O. Henry (William Sidney Porter, 1862—1910) in addition to the story “Ransom for the Chief of the Redskins” includes such masterpieces of his work as &ldquoThe Indian Summer of Johnson Sukhodolinsky, The Inveterate Swindler, The Correction of a Criminal and others. Many of them have been repeatedly filmed. Behind the change of adventures and situations, humour, irony or sarcasm in each story, the author's reflections on man, his desire for love, goodness and happiness are clearly visible. The writer's inexhaustible creative imagination is striking. His works usually have an unexpected ending. They are fascinating, moving and, most importantly, always bring optimism and hope.
