The two-volume set covers a vast period of the history of the Ukrainian people from the earliest times. The history was published in Lviv in 1935 in a limited edition of 1.5 thousand copies. It has not been reprinted since. Many chapters cover events and facts that are absent from the works of M. Hrushevsky, Dm. Doroshenko, M. Kostomarov, M. Arkas, and others.
