Inspired by the ideas of John Ruskin and William Morris, the Arts and Crafts Movement began in Britain around 1880 and quickly spread to America, Europe and Japan. Nature was an important source of inspiration for Arts & Crafts designers and patterns were inspired by the flora and fauna of the British countryside.
