This interesting and well-founded historical study by renowned Ukrainian historians Alla Kiridon and Serhiy Troyan is devoted to the most important aspects, nature and specifics of Ukraine's modern foreign policy, viewed from the perspective of Russia's aggression on the territory of the former USSR from August 2008 to spring 2023. The main attention is paid to the preconditions, causes, nature, lessons and consequences of the Russian war against Georgia (August 2008) and Ukraine (2014-2023). An important emphasis is placed on the analysis of the threat of Russian aggression to the modern world order and the practice of Russia's imperial course towards newly independent states.

The selfless struggle of the Ukrainian people for independence plays the role of a hammer, and the desire of the international community to restore the international legal order acts as an anvil, between which the aggressive Russian Leviathan is caught, which must be crushed.

The publication is intended for historians, internationalists, political scientists, sociologists, philosophers, and anyone interested in the history of international relations, Ukraine's foreign policy, and the Russian-Ukrainian war of 2014-2023.
