About book

This is an automatically translated description

Marcel Proust (1871-1922) was a famous French writer, essayist, and critic who gained worldwide recognition as the author of the seven-volume epic novel In Search of Lost Time, one of the most significant works of world literature of the twentieth century. Proust's literary career began at the Lycée Condorcet, after which he entered the École Polytechnique, graduating with a degree in law in 1893 and a degree in philosophy in 1895. He was made a Chevalier of the Legion of Honour (1920)

Marcel Proust, considered the founder of modern psychological prose, spent almost 20 years writing his multi-volume work In Search of Lost Time, which he considered his life's work. " On the Swan's Side (1913) is the first novel of a seven-volume epic, the last books of which were published after the author's death . The child's imagination recreates a suburban house in Combray, where his parents, grandmother, Aunt Leonia, and several maids live... The main and the secondary, the present and memories, events and feelings are all mixed up in Proust's novel. The author sought to create an epic not of external events, but of the inner world of a person whose consciousness consists of sensual movements and momentary impressions. It is the attention to sounds, tastes, colours, smells that awaken forgotten impressions that makes the work similar to the aesthetics of impressionism.
