Life is going well for Marie. She and her husband, Laurent, live a comfortable life in a large apartment on the in the eleventh arrondissement in Paris. They've always loved Paris, and over the years they have accumulated a good many friends and developed a varied, interesting social life. Marie is now thirty-one and has reached a stable and enjoyable stage of her career in a bank, so to her and Laurent it is obvious what their next step in life should be. They begin to try for a baby.
