She embarks on a dangerous journey through the warlike kingdom of Nedarra. Along the way, the brave deirne meets the dignified Tobble, the many-faced girl Khara, the proud filial cat Catch Luck, and Renzo, a thief with honour. The new friends become a real family for Bish and together they discover a terrible secret that threatens the existence of not only the deirn, but all the creatures of their world.
