Marko Vovchok's "Odarka" is a story about the tragic fate of a serf girl who was forcibly taken away from her parents to serve her lords. The work continues the theme of the destructive power of the lords, which is also clearly heard in other stories, including Horpyna, Father Andriy, and Ransom.
