«In this essay about the village of Dvernyk, I wanted to describe the fate of the mountain village, my homeland. It was under German occupation from 1939 to 1944 until the arrival of the Red Army. Back then, in 1944, it was known that these neighbourhoods would belong to communist Poland and the USSR with the help of communist Poland. The Polish army finally expelled the people of Dwornik to the USSR by force in June 1946. The «Vistula Action» in 1947 expelled the entire Ukrainian population to western Poland to the so-called German colonies.

I grew up in this village and remember how its Ukrainian national consciousness grew under the influence of events in Galicia, Ukrainian publications, Ukrainian priests and children who went to Ukrainian schools. I think it was the same with others, as someone will allow them to supplement or describe them more truthfully."

If I have described something wrong or forgotten something, I want people to remember the patience and tragedies of the people of Dvernyka. Probably more than one village in western Ukraine suffered even worse tragedies, and I think they should be described so that future generations can have a true historical image, and I apologise.

Unfortunately, no one mentions Dvornik in detail in the memoirs published so far, so I am trying to do it. I would like to see it published. I did not keep a diary or notes. During my time in the UPA, it was almost impossible. Therefore, I write about the events presented here as I remember them. I would be grateful for clarifications.
