The book is dedicated to the military traditions of the ancient Greek colonies of the south of modern Ukraine: The book is devoted to the military traditions of the ancient Greek colonies of the south of modern Ukraine: the polis communities of Tira, Olbia of Pontus, Chersonesos of Tauris, and the Bosporus Kingdom during more than a millennium of their history from the birth to the twilight of ancient civilisation in the north of Pontus. The military and political aspects of the history of the Northern Black Sea Hellenic states, the evolution of various types of offensive and defensive weapons, the problem of external influences and borrowings, and individual "branches of the army" of the ancient armies of the Northern Black Sea are considered. The author describes the most important military campaigns of the North Pontic Hellenes, the evidence of which has survived to the present day.
