Where to look for the West of Ukraine? Today it is traditionally understood as seven western regions. It was not always so, of course. The outlines of this territory were constantly changing - some lands were given or lost, the confessional and moral panorama was changing, the enemies made great fortunes, and dictators and epidemics harvested crooked stubble. This book is an attempt to learn the history of the western regions of Ukraine from the time of the Habsburgs to the occupation of the USSR.
