Memories can both enslave and inspire. After all, our roots contain both numerous traumas and boundless natural power. However, it is difficult to accept one's origins - along with surzhyk and home-made twists, revolutions and wars, beer in Podil and the Lisova metro station - and learn to live in harmony with all of this."

The Listener is a collection of nine short stories about memory, sensation, and complex identity. The book seeks to answer the question: what does a personality consist of and how can one find peace with oneself? Go through the library of memories, blow the dust off the shelves, play old cassettes, touch the rustling surfaces and look at the faded grainy photographs... Do you feel it?
