During the Cuban Revolution, theatre was used to identify specific social problems and also to search for solutions within the structure of the socialist system. José Triana's theatre is part of Cuban theatre's new identity, as he explores the essence of what it means to be Cuban during the Revolution. This book examines Triana's assessment of the violent and emotional behavior of the human being caught in the Revolutionary movement, and provides insight into his contextualization of Cuban national identity. This book explores, from a cultural and theatrical perspective, the Cuban struggle for identity, and the violence that continues to be perceived in Cuban society. (TEXT IN SPANISH)
