A young intern Eijiro Saito is doing his internship at Eiroku University Hospital and working part-time on the night shift. Working in various departments, he is confronted with the realities of Japanese medicine and the cruelty of the system - poor pay, corruption, negligence and indifference - and asks himself the question: "What does it mean to be a real doctor?"
