Come to the City of Chess!

The authors of the book became interested in chess as children and studied with the outstanding chess player Jan Brustman. Now they are Class II coaches of the Polish Chess Federation (only 15 women in Poland have received this title), teach at courses for teachers as part of the «Teaching Chess at School» programme, and have the title of Class I chess judges.

Adrianna Staniszewska has medals of the Junior Chess Championship of Mazovia (Grodzisk-Mazowiecki, 2002, 2003), a silver medal of the Polish Junior Rapid Chess Championship (Kolobrzeg, 2004) and a bronze medal of the Polish Junior Rapid Chess Championship (Olkusz, 2006). Three-time finalist of the Polish Junior Classical Chess Championship. Vice-champion of Mazovia in chess among judges (Warsaw, 2017). She was an intern at the Shanghai Chess Academy, where she taught preschool and school children. She is also the founder of the European Chess School, where she teaches classes for children and adults, and co-founder of the Creative Preschooler company, which organises additional chess classes for children.

Urszula Staniszewska won a gold medal four times in a row at the Warsaw Youth Olympiad (2002 and 2005); she won a gold medal at the Mazovian Junior Championship (Grodzisk-Mazowiecki, 2002, 2004), a bronze medal at the Polish Rapid Chess Championship (Olkusz, 2003), and a gold medal at the Mazovian Junior Rapid Chess Championship (Michalowice, 2007). She played in the finals of the Polish Junior Classical Chess Championship. Champion of Mazovia among chess judges (Warsaw, 2017). Urszula is a coach at the European Chess School, where she teaches classes for children and adults and develops a training programme.
