With increasing pressure on national healthcare budgets, there has evolved in recent years a greater appreciation of the costs of medical interventions. This has resulted in the burgeoning field of health economics in which the costs versus benefits of various medical treatments are compared against desired incomes. Bridging a gap in the literature, this new book introduces and comprehensively covers the subject of health economics. Section 1 explains in detail the principles and theory of health economics using examples relevant to pharmacy.
