The play "Give the heart freedom, it will lead to captivity" was included in the very first collection of texts by Marko Kropyvnytskyi. This play is one of Kropyvnytskyi's earliest texts: it was criticised by many writers, for example, Ivan Franko. The ending of the play is happy and has an instructive meaning.
