Abu Qasim's Slippers, a poetic story by Ivan Franko based on proverbial motifs, was once praised by Agafangel Krymsky, a professor of Arabic at the Lazarevsky Institute in Moscow. It was first published in Lviv in 1895. The second, revised and corrected edition was published thanks to the Russian Pedagogical Society.
