Kodo's third official album, and second for Sony music, is an absolute masterpiece. The album opens with Leonard Eto's "Zoku" - a wonderful and powerful piece that has been a live staple for over a decade. The live performances of that song are out of this world - best seen to be believed. If that wasn't enough, you will then be lulled into a serene, relaxing state by Motofumi Yamaguchi's "Kariuta" - a beatifully textured piece played on the Shinobue (a horizontal Japanese flute). Bliss! If you're still not convinced, the album ends with another live favourite - "Yatai Bayashi". Another dazzlingmore… display of pulsating and precise drums that has closed many a live set to a standing ovation.Only "Ibuki" has equalled this album's brilliance - the material is strong, inspiring and, most of all, remarkable. If you like the album, you will enjoy all the rest of their albums. From here - go for "Ibuki", "Tsutsumi" and then scout around for "Irodori". But, if you're feeling a bit more adventurous - go for "Warabe".
